WK

Wong Kai Xin

Founder, Subang Jaya — Startup Basics

"I ran a small tailoring business for two years without really understanding where my money was going. The cost mapping section in the Startup Finance Basics course helped me see it clearly for the first time. Nothing complicated — just a structured way to look at what I was actually spending."

Nur Aisyah Binti Roslan

Online Retailer, Johor Bahru — Foundations Workshop

"The workshop was genuinely useful. I appreciated that it was honest about what it was — education, not advice. The group sessions helped because other founders had similar questions I had not thought to ask. The pacing was a bit fast in week three, but overall it was a good use of five weeks."

Rajesh Selvam

F&B Operator, George Town, Penang — Complete Program

"Twelve weeks felt long when I signed up, but looking back it was the right length. The founder toolkit alone was worth it — I used the cost canvas when preparing for a meeting with my accountant and she said it was the most organised summary I had ever brought in. That alone saved me time and money."

Farah Hanim Abdul Aziz

Freelance Consultant, Kuala Lumpur — Startup Basics

"As a freelancer who had been going by instinct for three years, this course helped me put structure around what I was already doing intuitively. It is not dramatic — it will not transform your business overnight — but it gave me a clearer picture and that clarity matters when making decisions."

Zulaikha Mohd Noor

Homecare Services, Shah Alam — Foundations Workshop

"I appreciated the facilitated discussions most. Hearing how other founders in different types of businesses approached the same questions made me think about my own situation differently. The template for organising my service costs was practical and I have kept using it after the workshop ended."

TC

Tan Chin Huat

Tech Services SME, Penang — Complete Program

"I came into the Complete Program knowing a fair amount already, but the structure helped me see where my gaps were. The facilitator check-ins were genuinely useful — not just a check-box, but actual conversations about what I was applying and where I was getting stuck. Worth the commitment."

PARTICIPANT JOURNEYS

A Closer Look at What Changed

Three participant journeys — the challenge they started with, what they worked on, and what shifted for them.

WK

Wong Kai Xin — Tailoring Business, Subang Jaya

Startup Finance Basics Course · 4 weeks

THE CHALLENGE

Running a tailoring business with steady orders but no clear picture of profitability. Costs were tracked loosely in a notebook, and revenue was counted without understanding margins. Felt unable to make confident decisions about pricing or taking on more orders.

WHAT THEY WORKED ON

Used the cost mapping template to list all fixed and variable costs for the first time. Worked through the revenue overview module to understand how different order types contributed to income. Built a simple monthly summary to track both together.

WHAT SHIFTED

Could for the first time see which types of orders were most and least viable. Brought the completed cost summary to an accountant appointment — previously had gone empty-handed. Reported feeling more organised and less uncertain about the business's financial shape.

"I finally stopped guessing. It was not complicated — I just needed someone to show me a clear way to look at it."

RS

Rajesh Selvam — F&B Operator, George Town

Complete Entrepreneurial Finance Program · 12 weeks

THE CHALLENGE

Running two food stalls with growing revenue but shrinking margin. Had a bookkeeper handling records but did not understand them well enough to ask useful questions or spot where costs had crept up. Wanted a grounding in the basics before taking on a third location.

WHAT THEY WORKED ON

Completed the full program with modules, live sessions, and two facilitator check-ins. Used the cost-and-revenue canvas to map each stall separately, then together. Worked through the planning checklist before a meeting with his bookkeeper and accountant.

WHAT SHIFTED

Identified that one stall had consistently higher ingredient costs relative to revenue. Went into the next accountant meeting with an organised summary for the first time. Reported that the accountant spent less time on basic data gathering and more on useful discussion.

"My accountant said it was the most organised I had ever been. Twelve weeks is a commitment but the toolkit is something I actually use."

ZM

Zulaikha Mohd Noor — Homecare Services, Shah Alam

Founder Finance Foundations Workshop · 5 weeks

THE CHALLENGE

A growing homecare services operation with three staff. Revenue had increased but so had complexity — more costs, more variables, and less clarity about how to read the business's position at any given month. Wanted to understand before expanding further.

WHAT THEY WORKED ON

Attended the five-session workshop with a small group of founders from different sectors. Used peer exercises to map service delivery costs and compare thinking with others. Built a structured summary format she could update monthly using the provided template.

WHAT SHIFTED

Identified a pattern of rising transport costs that had not been clearly visible before. Updated her cost summary monthly for four months following the workshop. Felt more confident discussing numbers with her husband (co-owner) and with their part-time bookkeeper.

"The group discussions made it real. Hearing other founders ask the same questions I had made me feel less alone with it."
